We had Kenley's 1st birthday party on June 13th. We have so many wonderful friends and family that came to celebrate with us!! I'm going to do a longer blog post showcasing her cakes, the decorations and of course pictures, but I wanted to go ahead and post this CUTE video of her eating her cake.

These legs are made for walking...
I'm so late in posting about this...but things are a little busy around here and you're about to see why!
We recently celebrated Jonathan's birthday and his parents and I planned a big surprise party back on May 16th. We all had a great time and he was definitely surprised (at least he says he was!!) Anyway at one point of the night, Kenley surprised US all by taking her first steps!! Five, to be exact!
It was SO exciting and I was SO proud of her!!! I can't believe we're finally here at this BIG milestone!! I can't believe my baby is about to be a full time walker!!!
I've been trying to capture her steps on camera ever since. It's not an easy task to catch Kenley doing what you want on camera but I finally did this past week! It's not the best video...but it's documented proof that she's walking!!
She knows that it's easier & faster to crawl and still likes the security of holding on as she walks, but we're getting closer and closer. Each day she adds another step and goes a little bit further. I'm just so proud of her and so excited/scared about our newest phase in life!!!
Here's the little clip of her walking (yes I know I'm sad by bribing her with a necklace)

Kenley says "Da-da"!!!!!
Last Friday (Feb 6) we were getting ready to go out of town for the weekend and Kenley was saying "Da-da" all morning. I finally get the camera out and she stops...of course. We did manage to get a double "Da-da" though!
My heart absolutely melted hearing her say "Da-da." It's funny, I always thought I'd be jealous if she said "Da-da" first, but I wasn't. Not even one bit. I was so full of joy and excitement...and how could I not LOVE the sound of my precious baby girl calling for her Daddy!?!

Sweet Potatoes!!
Well...we took the plunge and started sweet potatoes. Kenley hasn't been getting enough from just nursing and I didn't want to keep supplementing. I really wanted to wait until 6 months but my poor ba-boo was hungry. She was 5 months and 4 days when she took her first bite of food and I have to say...she loves it!!!! We started the sweet potatoes on Friday November 21 and have been doing 1-2 spoons at lunch since then.
Starting solids has been difficult for me. I struggled accepting that she wasn't getting enough breastmilk. Giving her solids, at first, seemed like I was failing at breastfeeding. (there have been some major tears during this time) It was also difficult to accept that she's growing up and moving to a new phase in her life. I'm doing much better with it now and I love that she's enjoying her new treat.
Here's a little video of her first sweet potatoes experience!!
