My life verse

Many Christians have a 'life verse.' It's a verse that speaks to their heart, sums up their faith, is their daily guide, etc. Up until this weekend...I didn't really have a true 'life verse.'

My mom and I were running errands Saturday and one of our stops was at Hobby Lobby. They had a little display with baby items that I keep my eye on. One of the items was a little wooden cross with a Bible verse:

"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him." Psalms 62:1

I made a mental note and tried to remember the verse for when I got home.

Later that evening Jonathan and I were working on Kenley's blessing for her baptism the next day. We were gathering some of our favorite verses and to my surprise, I actually remembered my Psalms verse. Something just kept pulling me to that verse and I really wanted to include it in Kenley's blessing.

Jonathan has always said my Faith is 'childlike' because I don't try to analyze or question the who's, what's, where's, when's, etc. of the Bible. God said He loves me. He sent His son to die for me so I wouldn't have to die for my sins. It is the truth and I fully believe it. John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." It's just always been that simple for me.

So while we're sitting there it hits me. Psalms 62:1 is my life verse. It's simple. It's to the point. It's perfect!

I love this verse. There's no need to stress out about the current economic crisis. There's no need to worry about who is going to be elected next month. I find rest in God. Not in politics. Not in worldly possessions. Not in money. I find rest in God alone. My salvation is in Him and it brings me pure joy knowing this.
