Sweet Potatoes!!

Well...we took the plunge and started sweet potatoes. Kenley hasn't been getting enough from just nursing and I didn't want to keep supplementing. I really wanted to wait until 6 months but my poor ba-boo was hungry. She was 5 months and 4 days when she took her first bite of food and I have to say...she loves it!!!! We started the sweet potatoes on Friday November 21 and have been doing 1-2 spoons at lunch since then.

Starting solids has been difficult for me. I struggled accepting that she wasn't getting enough breastmilk. Giving her solids, at first, seemed like I was failing at breastfeeding. (there have been some major tears during this time) It was also difficult to accept that she's growing up and moving to a new phase in her life. I'm doing much better with it now and I love that she's enjoying her new treat.

Here's a little video of her first sweet potatoes experience!!

so cute! She looks like she really enjoyed them! Just a little advice (do what you like with it) the gerber spoons with the metal handles and rubber spoon part are much much easier to feed them with at this age =)

thanks Jaime! I didn't know which spoons to buy when I bought those. She does well with them but I think I'll take your advice and get the others :o)

sounds good...they are much easier for them to eat with and much easier for you to feed with. I don't usually dish out uninvited advice but for some reason I did here because I figured it might make it easier for you =) Does she eat a whole container yet in one sitting? Jack did right off the bat, lol, he loves his food!
